Recipe Steps

I initially featured this recipe on the Wanda Farm blog in March of 2023, and it’s been a staple in my kitchen ever since.

I typically whip up this delightful Broccoli, Ham and Cheese Quiche on lazy Sundays, enjoying the leftovers throughout the week. For a twist, try it with bacon instead of ham, or swap out the broccoli for cauliflower, asparagus, or spinach. Plus, it’s just as tasty as a vegetarian option with bell peppers and more!

Prepping to make the Broccoli, Ham and Cheese Quiche

Feel free to customize the protein to your liking; bacon or breakfast sausage are excellent options. Experiment with different veggies like cauliflower, asparagus, or spinach, and try various kinds of cheese such as cheddar or colby jack for a unique twist. For a vegetarian version, bell peppers, spinach, and asparagus work wonderfully.

Equipment

  • 1 10" Cast Iron Skillet or Glass Pie Plate

Ingredients

  • 9 Fresh Pastured Eggs
  • ¼ C Ham diced
  • 3 Tbsp. Organic Grass-Fed Butter
  • 1 Shallot minced
  • 1-2 Cloves Garlic minced
  • 4-5 oz. Cheddar Cheese shredded
  • ¾ C Plain Whole Milk Greek Yogurt
  • ½ tsp. Ground Mustard
  • Salt & Pepper to taste

Instructions

  • Preheat the oven to 350°F and chop the broccoli and shallot.
  • Heat a large cast iron skillet, then add the butter, moving it around the pan. Once melted, add the broccoli, garlic, and a pinch of salt. Cook until the moisture is cooked out, about 7-8 minutes, then allow it to cool slightly.
  • Crack the eggs into a large bowl. Add the yogurt and whisk until well blended. Mix in the cheese and ham.
  • Stir the egg mixture into the cast iron skillet, combining it with the broccoli and onions.
  • Place the skillet in the oven and bake for 30-35 minutes until the quiche is set in the center and browned along the edges.
  • Allow to cool, then slice and serve.

Notes

If using a pie crust, the cooking time will be closer to an hour. Milk can be substituted for yogurt if desired.
This recipe is also versatile. Substitute the protein with bacon, the broccoli with baby spinach, cauliflower, or artichoke, and the cheese with whatever you prefer.
